We’re trying something new!
With 10 episodes of Poverty Unpacked Chats under our belt, we are now going to use the bi-monthly slot to celebrate!
Every two months, we’ll give a shout out to people, organisations, campaigns or any other initiatives that do amazing work to tackle poverty and that we think you should know about. It could be anywhere in the world, undertaken by anyone. We want to acknowledge and appreciate the fantastic work that takes place everywhere, every day!
In this first episode, a shout out to:
- two of the Big Issue 100 changemakers of 2026 (they’re all amazing, of course!) namely the End Child Poverty Coalition (with sneaky mention of ATD Fourth World) and Soul Food Edinburgh – listen to know why!
- Empathy Action and their upcoming new immersive event Broke, to create understanding of the poverty crisis in the UK – an important and amazing initiative that you can be part of!
- A celebratory event at the Dutch Centre to mark International Women’s Day by discussing the role of empathy and hope to create social change – Thursday 5 March in London
- And a suggestion to keep your eye out for the call for submissions for the 2026 Nature Writing Prize for Working Class Writers – follow founder Natasha Carthew and CommonGroundLit on social media
If you have any suggestions for who should be celebrated next time, get in touch!
