The first 1,000 days in a person’s life are crucial for their development and therefore this period in our lifecycle has become the focus of much policy and debate. Over time, responsibility for ensuring wellbeing in the first 1,000 days has been transferred to parents – away from the state – with negative consequences for parental wellbeing.
